Introducing the Happy Hallows Quilt!

Kristine Poor

Introducing the Happy Hallows Quilt! It’s a collaboration between Kate Colleran Designs and Poorhouse Quilt Designs. It consists of 12 pieced blocks, with a dash of fall and a sprinkle of Halloween!

There are 2 layouts included in our printed pattern: a square, perfect for hanging, and a lap quilt, perfect for snuggles!

In the beginning: During Quilt Market in Houston (2023), Kate and I discussed a project over coffee and the Koffee Klatch with Kate and Kris was born!

We thought it would be fun to design a BOM quilt with simple graphic shapes that could be customized with the quilters’ stash. We decided to create a quilt with solids and speckled blenders (hat tip to Moda) so that it would be easy for the creator to envision the project with their favorite fabrics.

A Method to the Madness! This pattern is a mix of some standard techniques, making it a great choice for both confident beginners and expert quilters. We employed HSTs, flying geese, and stitch ‘n flip units to create our blocks.

Quilters can choose to use their favorite rulers to make our blocks—in other words, we have not specified any specific rulers. So go ahead and use what you have, or yes—go get that ruler to help you get the blocks done faster!

The Blocks: Let’s take a look at some of the blocks we used – we like to say they are Monstrously Fun! That jar block also makes a great label for the back of the quilt!

We used Crop Circles by My Creative Stitches for the quilting of the square quilt.  It really compliments the geometry of the quilt!

We are thrilled to share this project with you and can't wait to see how you bring your own creativity to the Happy Hallows BOM quilt. Whether you're a seasoned quilter or just starting out, this quilt is designed to be both fun and rewarding.

 Happy quilting!
