Jingle Bell Pines Block Party, Let's Finish!

Kristine Poor

Welcome to Week 10 of the Jingle Bell Pines Block Party! This is our final post and we have a surprise for those of you who waited until the end!

Kate Colleran (of Kate Colleran Designs) and I have compiled tips to help you complete your Jingle Bell Pines blocks! Now we are at the end – and we want to make sure you are happy with the finished quilt! And of course, we know you want to get this quilt done for the holidays!

We are joined by @alisonsexpressions (on Instagram) – she’s making the quilt right along with us as well, using Thatched and Dotty Thatched from @modafabrics! Loving her take on this project!

In the final assembly of our quilt, we will be putting together our rows, then adding borders to the quilt center.

At each step along the way, it’s helpful to measure your quilt, so that you know what the variation may be from the pattern, so you can adjust the strips along the way.

Let’s start with the row assembly. As you stitch your blocks together, measure each finished row. If your row does not match the width, you can adjust the seam allowance at the sashing between the blocks.

When you go to assemble your rows together, they will all the same width.

When you are ready to add borders, measure the quilt center at the vertical or horizontal center, depending on where the next border you have to add is.

Cut the borders to match your measurement and add to your quilt.

If you have edges that don’t match, put the longer edge facing the feed dogs, and they will help you ease that fullness in!

Now for the fun part!

We have put together a fun label and instructions for you to download!

Get it here to celebrate the fact that you finished your quilt (Yes – high five) and you will want to document your quilt with a label!

All through the block party, we’ve been showing all of the blocks with a navy and a taupe background. Now let’s look the quilt with these different backgrounds!!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this fun Block Party! We sure did! I would love to see your quilts! Tag us on Instagram with your quilts!! We are @katecollerandesigns and @poorhousequilts. Loved sewing with you! Hugs, Kris
